Come one, Come all to the party they said would never be posted about.
Celebrate the Winter Solstice (21st) and the birthdays of Torin (wolfieboy) (20th) and Jesse (jw1776) (22nd). This festival will be at Strangeland in North Seattle. In case you don't know, Strangeland is the magical place where Cindy (cindygerb) and Torin live.
The party will be from Friday the 19th of December at sundown (4.19p/1619) to Saturday the 20st of December at sunrise (7.54a/0754). You can show up at any time and stay for as little or as long as you like. We will be starting a fire before the sun goes down on the 19th and keep the fire going until sunrise on the 20th. At that point, those that are still here and awake will traipse out to look towards the East. We'll point and say, "I think that patch of clouds there is brighter than the others." We'll then proceed back into the house and anyone that wants to will crash. We have plenty of sleeping space at Strangeland so if you stay the night, you don't have to worry about driving home.
You may bring a potluck item or games if you would like but such is not required. Bringing yourself is what is most wanted. There will be much game playing, eating, talking, and some rituals over the course of the night. The event has included kids in the past and we expect it to continue to do so. There has been some nudity later in the evening at past versions of this event but it's been casual. That I know of, the events have not included anyone having sex, privately or publicly. (This is me, looking at the questions from last year's event.)
Neither Torin nor Jesse need any presents. Both of us think that people coming together to celebrate our birthdays and socializing among our friends is better than any thing as a gift.
If you need directions to Strangeland, write to Torin at wolfieboy-AT-livejournal.com.
Note that I pulled the astronomical data from USNO Astronomical Applications Department. They say that Solstice will be at Dec 22nd 0704 UTC which would be Dec 21st 2304 (11.04p) PST.
Final note. The reason that we're not having this actually on the Solstice is because we'll be at Gaia Consort rather than tending the fire. I figure that we're urban neo-pagans, so we can adapt customs as we need to.
