Not a good fanboy

I haven't been a good fanboy and actually haven't listened to Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow before this. Crying during three of the songs suggests that it's a good album. I'll be sure and pick up the new Storytellers DVD more quickly when it comes out.

Waiting for Sarah's new music to come out can be a bit of a problem since on one hand, I want to hear her music and enjoy it greatly. On the other hand, she says that she writes songs as a way to resolve crises in her life that she can't seem to handle. I wouldn't wish those sorts of events on anyone, especially not on someone who has given me such joy and delight…

And no, this post isn't getting away with having no song lyrics in it:
Answer
by Sarah McLachlan
Track 7 on the Afterglow CD

I will be the answer at the end of the line
I will be there for you while take the time
In the burning of uncertainty I will be your solid ground
I will hold the balance if you can't look down

If it takes my whole life I won't break I won't bend
Oh, it'll all be worth it worth it in the end
'Cause I can only tell you what I know
that I need you in my life
When the stars have all gone out
you'll still be burning so bright

Cast me gently into morning
For the night has been unkind
Take me to a place so holy
That I can wash this from my mind
The memory of choosing not to fight

If it takes a whole life I won't break I won't bend
Oh it'll all be worth it worth it in the end
'Cause I can only tell you what I know
That I need you in my life
And when the stars have all burned out
You'll still be burning so bright
Cast me gently into morning for the night has been unkind

I was thinking of writing about how this applies but instead, I'll just say that it affected me most deeply of all the songs. The other two that affected me deeply were Push (what I've tried to do and failed) and Train Wreck (it was just a few lines rather than the whole song). I like Drifting as a love song. Stupid seemed very passionate and angry. The others, I will reserve comment on; possibly for later.

I am amused that as with Surfacing, it's the fluffy ones that get the airplay, leaving the intense ones for the CD.
