Dextromethorphan (C18H25NO) is my friend. It's enabling my throat to heal since I'm not coughing all the time. I wanted to do some research on its effects so that I knew what I was taking and I was amazed at how little is known. From the Informed Drug Guide:
Dextromethorphan is obviously an easily tolerated cough medicine. It does not feature the usual risks of 'normal' opioids. Nevertheless, one has to emphasize the fact that this drug is hardly documented at all. There is no clarity on the best dose nor on the duration of its effects (much less its action in high risk groups).
I'm currently taking DexAlone which is a gelcap with 30mg and I don't have to taste the cough syrup. Yay!
