Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all.

Changes in life are always going to happen; they're part of the human experience. What we can change, however, is how we percieve them. And that shift in our perception is a miracle. One that I really enjoyed from starandrea is:
Do you know how alarming it is to realize that you can do anything you want? I'll tell you how alarming it is: it's so alarming that you deny, ignore, hide from the possibility until the day you stick your head out of your shell and find it's still there! Waiting for you!I can just see me playing hide-and-seek with the potential.

Finally, I found out that there is actually a name for the behaviour that cindygerb and I seem to have adopted. It when we look back at someone saying, "Blink. Blink?" It's mentioned on the TV Tropes wiki as Squeaky Eyes. I'm amused.
Considering how much I don't know about video and film, I find the TV Tropes wiki rather useful at times...
