I leave chocolate out at work. My standard fare is a bag each from Costco of Snickers, Reese's, Kisses, and Hershey's miniatures. I really wish that Nestle would put out miniatures, I much prefer them. I will occasionally have fine, high quality chocolates around but not real often.
This has multiple benefits. I get to play the role of temptor since many people think they "shouldn't" eat the chocolate. It brings people around so that I can chat with them. It gains me quite a bit of goodwill for when I need favors, and least of all, I have a supply of chocolate. I actually eat very little of what I set out. My benefit is the socialization rather than the sugar.
A rather amusing incident happened the other day when Mark, one of the SAs, came over to ask me a question. He had something different in his hand and I asked him about it. He told me, guiltily, that it was a Rice Krispy treat from Renee's desk. The guilt went through to his face. I asked him about the guilt and he said that he felt like he was cheating on me. We both then chuckled. I told him that it was alright, especially since I don't have Rice Krispy treats. I'm convincing my co-workers to be polychocolatous. :)
